COASTAL FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT
- What
- Coastal flooding and high surf conditions are possible due to 40 to 60 mph winds.
- Where
- Kuskokwim Delta Coast, including Kipnuk and Kwigillingok.
- When
- 8 AM Friday through 1 AM Saturday, particularly around high tides near 10 AM and 10 PM Friday.
- Impacts
- Coastal flooding of low lying areas and erosion are possible.
- Additional details
- The most likely scenario is for water levels to be 2 to 3 ft above the average high tide line, which would be similar to the water levels during the August 18 2024 storm. This will likely be the strongest storm of the 2026 season so far. We will be closely monitoring this storm. In the meantime, please have a plan in place.
What to do
A coastal flood watch means that conditions favorable for flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be alert for later statements or warnings, and take action to protect property.
