For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to 8 feet in the surf zone. For the Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip currents, large breaking waves, and hazardous debris expected in the surf zone. * WHERE...Northern Outer Banks ocean-side locales that experienced weakening of dune structures over the last few days. For sound-side localized flooding, low-lying areas prone to sound-side flooding in and near Manteo. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until midnight EDT tonight. For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 AM EDT this morning. For the Beach Hazards Statement, through this evening. * IMPACTS...Up to 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways with compromised dune structures resulting in a low threat of property damage. Dune structure erosion is possible in vulnerable locations. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The next ocean-side high tide times are around 8:15 AM Sunday, and 8:30 PM Sunday. The sound-side high times are around 11:30 AM Sunday and midnight Sunday night. The most likely time for strong rip currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide, which will occur around 2:30 PM Sunday. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Watch out for debris that may be in the water.
